Zucker Studioby Camea Smith | 02.12.18
Zucker is the brainchild of two sisters and fashion designers – Einav and Hadas Zucker. The brand was founded four years ago with the ultimate goal of creating a “wardrobe of essential pieces,” multi seasonal and classic clothes that exude effortless style. Zucker’s Winter 2018 collection “Darkness on the Edge of Town” draws inspiration from the enduring allure of the French singer Françoise Hardy. The fresh and laid back looks smartly combine between relaxed elegance and retro chic, with two tone denim, statement sweaters and buttoned silk shirts.
Einav Zucker studied fashion design at Shenkar College and after completing her studies moved to Italy and designed her namesake collection for Diesel for three consecutive years. Hadas Zucker is an alumna of the fashion design department at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, and until recently lived in Shanghai, where she was the creative director of the Chinese menswear brand Blackgateone. The sisters have previously joined forces and collaborated in their womenswear brand Rhus Ovata, which they designed and managed for several years before deciding to launch their new endeavour, Zucker studio, at 2014.
Zucker studio is a direct to customer, online platform offering luxury in affordable prices. The customers are invited to try on the clothes in a designated fitting room located next to Zucker’s studio, at 6 Lea and David Izumiz Street, Tel Aviv (-1 floor). The designers also provide their clientele a “home try on” service, enabling them to order up to five items, wear them at home and decide whether they would like to purchase them. The clothes arrive with a messenger to the clients’ house and they are given a few days to try them on. This initiative is especially alluring to customers who are not savvy online shoppers.
The Winter 2018 collection wishes to create timeless looks, glamorous and yet functional: wash & wear silk is incorporated (the silk is especially manufactured in a way that obviates the need to dry clean), as well as reversible garments. The painstakingly beautiful details include a trouser cuff embroidered with the motto “everyday excellence,” a sweatshirt adorned with hidden zippers and a multi color placket in an otherwise prim button down shirt.
